2006 April

Please add your thoughts for 2006 April. Please check the ground rules before posting. They are unusual. If you make personal attacks against me or other posters, your comments will be deleted no matter how good your arguments are. If you, don't like the ground rules, you can debate me in the alt.politics.bush newsgroup or send email for the feedback section http://mindprod.com/feedback/peace.html. Here, talk about ideas and politicians. Leave your fellow debaters, including me, out of it.

Heading For Canada

Many Americans mistakenly figure they can escape the USA if things get too bad by coming to Canada, as they did in the Viet Nam era.

The Bush administration has been quietly blocking those avenues with a number of measures.

One measure is arm twisting Canada into elaborate new ID systems so you can't get across the border without both governments knowing about it.

The other is more frightening. The USA has the right to send dragoons into Canada to capture at take back to the USA anyone they suspect of draft dodging. No Canadian court is involved. So not even Canadian citizens are safe from such shanghaing. Once you are in the USA, the Patriot act means you can be held indefinitely without being charged with anything and even tortured. No one is allowed to even mention that you were arrested. This is just like Russia in the worst days of Communism.

The laws supposedly to control terrorism can be abused and used against any political enemy of the current administration.

My advice is, if you are in any doubt about whether you should leave, leave early, and get far away — to Europe. Buy a return ticket so it looks like you are just taking a vacation.

I feel that unless a person has been in the situation himself, or a situation like it, then his comments are just opinions and should be viewed, expressed, and accepted as such. When someone who knows only what they have read or seen on televiosion they have a very closeminded and limited view on the subject matter. This being said, I will not be so prosumptious as to believe that I am Qualified to talk about wether the current situation is right or wrong. Do I believe that hurting people is right...no. Do I believe that tourture is right ...no. Do I believe that war is neccessarry....sometimes. I do know that when a person goes to war the rules change. What would normally not be acceptable is now acceptable. Any person by nature has an inert desire to live and as such will do what is neccessarry to preserve life. I do not condem or look down on anyone for the things that they have done. Nor Do I condem or look down on anyone for having their own OPINIONS.

Attacks

In this blog, there is a no-ad-hominum rule. The intent is to keep debate focussed rather than degenerating into personal feces-slinging match devoid of ideas.

I relax this rule in letters to the Feedback section.

When people write me who have killed, raped or tortured children, I am no longer interested in debating with them. They are beyond hope. My goal is to insult and shame and hurt them as much as I can using only words. I want others to treat them as pariahs and join in on heaping abuse especially when they offer feeble excuses for their atrocities or even planned atrocities.

There are no mitigating circumstances in this war. The war was wrong from the start and everyone knows it. It has absolutely no justification. The UN made it clear, anyone who participates is an international war criminal. Further the war is unmatched in barbarity since Vlad the Impaler. Anyone involved in any way is aiding and abetting the entire abomination.

You say that about your feed back area yet when I send you an e-mail it does not appear HMMM. Ok That is ok to debate with a person who has his ideas set and is closeminded, regardless of whether thier ideas are right or wrong is pointless. It is a sensless waste of time intended only for those with nothing but time on their hands. Too much idle time is never a good thing. To many talents are wasted on slinging mud at others and trying to belittle the thoughts, belifes and ideals of others. The ideals of another should be respected not poked fun at in an attempt to make onesself feel better about himself or to feel supperior to others. There is an ideal that we in the USA hold dear to. All mankind are created equal. No one person is or should consider themselves to be better than someone else. To belittle that wich another considers worthy enough cause to die for is a disgrace. I am not now nor did I ever say that I personnally agree with this war or with our current president. President Bush is doing some GREAT things for our country, He has done some very bad things for our country to. However let any man or woman for that matter that thinks they can do better step up in the 2008 elections. The running of a country has got to create a level of stress that none of us except those who have been there can ever begin to understand. No one no matter who they are will ever be able to please everyone.

Missing Feedback

I receive hundreds of emails a day. I don't have enough time to read them all much less respond to them. HIV has ground me down and I have very little energy and waking time each day which makes the problem even worse. Sorry about that.

When you post to the blogs, it goes directly to the web, without requiring my intervention.

When I do feedback, it takes me quite a while to clean up the formatting, and compose an extensive line by line reply.
